Middletown....Dorothy Rose (Sellers) Sturgeon, 78, resident of Middletown, died Sunday evening at St. Johns Medical Center in Anderson, after a brief illness.
She was born in Middletown, April 16, 1924, the daughter of John W. and Lavonia Moffitt Sellers. She retired in 1987 from Ft. Benjamin Harrison, after 25 years as a paymaster clerk.
She lived her entire life in Middletown and was a member of the 6th Street Christian Church. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star #110 of Middletown serving as Worthy Matron in 1971 and 1977. She also served as Grand Martha for the state organization. She was a member of Sigma Beta Sorority of Middletown.
Survivors are her husband of 55 years: Bill of Middletown, 2 sons: Mark (Fiance; Dixie) of Middletown and Evan (Sherrie) of Middletown, 1 daughter: Malia (Kenneth) Farler of Anderson, 1 sister: Della Sheets of Anderson and a special sister: Jean White of Anderson, 8 grandchildren: Richard Brown, Brandice Sturgeon, Kristin Brown, and Karen Brown, all of Anderson, Ashley Sturgeon, Elizabeth Sturgeon, Wesley Sturgeon, and India Jones, all of Middletown. Also two great grandchildren: Kelsea and Kamren Brown of Anderson and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2:00 PM at Ballard and Sons Fuenral Home, 118 South 5th, Middletown, with Rev. Maynard Powell officiating.
A Dove Release Service will follow at Miller Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM with OES Memorial Services at 7:30 at the funeral home.
