Bradley "Brad" Shawn Hester

November 1, 1969 — January 26, 2023

Bradley “Brad” Shawn Hester, 53, of Anderson passed away Thursday, January 26, 2023. He was born in Anderson, IN on November 1, 1969, a son of Steven Lewis Hester and Connie Jo (Sprinkle) Newman.

There were two things in life that were important to Brad, golf and his family, the latter being the most important. Brad was a loving husband, father, son, brother and soon to be grandfather to a granddaughter that will be named Emma Adley; she already had his heart.

Brad was a 1988 graduate of Madison Heights High School where he excelled at football, wrestling and track and received a football scholarship to Illinois College before transferring to Anderson University. He was also a collegiate wrestler while he attended Illinois College. For the past 3 years, Brad was employed by Hillyard in Daleville as an account manager. Over the years, Brad has been a store manager for Lowe’s in Anderson, Dick’s Sporting Goods and Kohls. Brad was a passionate, hard worker at whatever he was doing and exhibited wisdom while doing it. Brad’s wisdom has no doubt been passed down to his two boys, Drake and Logan, whom are both serving in the US Air Force. Needless to say, Brad was very proud of his boys. He was an avid golfer and die-hard Colts fan, enjoyed his golf league and tournaments with his brothers, sons and friends. Brad also enjoyed curling with his brother Todd and nephew Kyle. During Brad’s younger years, he enjoyed his bowling leagues and scored numerous perfect games. Most importantly, he loved vacationing, and just spending time with his wife, Penny, Drake and Logan.

Brad is survived by his wife of 24 years, Penny (Marsh) Hester of Anderson; sons, Drake Bradley (Jasmine) Hester of Rockin, CA and Logan Joseph (companion: Gwen Schmiedel) Hester of Anderson; granddaughter (soon to be born), Emma Adley Hester; mother, Connie (Joe) Newman of Indianapolis; siblings, Todd (Jennifer) Hester of Noblesville, Cindy (Mike) Boyd of Anderson, Scott (Carie) Carr of Monticello; step-mother, Karen Hester of Anderson; mother-in-law, Phyllis Marsh of Daleville; brother-in-law, Todd (Sissy) Marsh of Eaton; several nieces and nephews.

Brad was preceded in death by his father, Steven L. Hester; maternal grandparents, Sam and Gay Sprinkle; paternal grandparents, Owen and Vera Hester; father-in-law, Tom Marsh.

A celebration of life service will be held at 5:00pm Tuesday, January 31, 2023 at Ballard and Sons Funeral Home in Daleville. Visitation will be from 2:00pm Tuesday until the time of service.
