Carol "Lucy" Royal

Carol “Lucy” Royal, 68, of Anderson, passed away on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis following an extended illness. Carol was born on July 6, 1958, in Muncie, Indiana, the daughter of the late Ron and Mary (Dobbs) Royal.

A 1976 graduate of Daleville High School, Carol dedicated 20 years of service as a sales associate with Target. She had a warm, caring heart and never met a stranger. Affectionately known by many as “Aunt Carol,” she had a special way of making everyone feel like they were her favorite.

Carol cherished time spent with her family and friends. She enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, especially being outdoors while people watching, and sharing laughter with those she loved. She loved playing cards, board games, and video games with her nieces and nephews, attending her granddaughter’s softball games and watching WWE with her grandson,creating countless treasured memories. Carol also had a special love for her dogs and grand dogs, who brought her great joy. Her easygoing personality, kind spirit, and infectious smile will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Carol is survived by her sister, Kay (David) Sorg; brother, Don (Sue) Royal; nieces and nephews, Melissa (Nick) Riffey, Adam Tomlinson, Dustin Royal, Audry Hornsby, Ben (Amber) Sorg, Amie (Kyle) Clevenger and Elizabeth (Paul) Price; grandkids, Liberty and Brantley Clevenger; 10 great nieces and nephews and 1great-great niece.

In addition to her parents, Carol was preceded in death by her sister, Chris Thorpe and her husband, Paul.
