Carolyn Sue Nelson

Carolyn Sue Nelson, 90, of Indianapolis passed away peacefully on Monday, March 25, 2024, at The Forum at the Crossing in Indianapolis. She was born on June 7, 1933, in Daleville to the late Floyd and Josephine (Bowers) McWilliams.

She grew up in Daleville, graduating from Daleville High School in 1951, then attended Columbia Women’s College in Missouri. Carolyn was a member of the Daleville Christian Church, Acton Chapter of the Eastern Star, and the Smyrna Shrine Guild where she was the past Maharanee. She and her husband Wayne enjoyed antique cars and they were involved with the Shriners 500 Club. She loved music and playing the organ. Carolyn also enjoyed cooking and her jewelry. She was a tough, strong and feisty woman who loved her family and will be greatly missed. The family has comfort knowing Carolyn is at peace now and celebrating again with Wayne in Heaven.

Carolyn is survived by her children, Linda Ash and Duane (Tara) Nelson; grandchildren, Jason (Anna) Ash, Ryan Ash, Brittany (Travis) Hardee, Douglas (Rachel) Nelson, Hilary Nelson and Daniel Nelson; Ten Great Grandchildren; brother, Gary (Nancy) McWilliams.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her Husband of 49 years, Wayne Nelson; son-in-law, David Ash.

Graveside services will be at 12:00 pm Saturday March 30, 2024, at Elm Ridge Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 am until 11:30 am at Ballard and Sons Funeral Home in Daleville. You may share a memory or express a condolence of Carolyn at www.ballardandsons.com .
