Charles “Charlie” Edward Corn, 88, of Middletown, passed away on Monday, April 6, 2026, at St. Vincent Ascension Hospital in Anderson following an extended illness. Charlie was born on August 14, 1937, in Jonesboro, Indiana, a son of the late Earl Eugene Corn and Margaret Louise (Pollen) Corn.
He was a 1957 graduate of Muncie Central High School, where he proudly embraced the motto, “Once a Bearcat, always a Bearcat,” and remained a devoted supporter, holding season tickets to school sporting events for many years.
Charlie had a deep love for sports and the outdoors. He was an avid NASCAR fan and attended numerous races throughout the years. He also cheered faithfully for the Indiana Hoosiers. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing and camping, finding peace and happiness in nature.
Charlie dedicated 35 years of service as a pipe fitter at Guide Lamp in Anderson before retiring. Earlier in life, he worked for seven years at Colonial Bakery in Muncie. During his high school years, he worked at an ice cream shop near the Gibson Skating Rink, where he also enjoyed spending time skating.
Above all, Charlie’s greatest joy in life was his family, especially his grandchildren, who were the center of his world. He took great pride in caring for them and spending time with them daily, creating lasting memories.
He was a longtime and faithful member of the Upper Fall Creek Church of the Brethren in Middletown.
Charlie is survived by his wife of 61years, Mary Kay Corn of Middletown; children, Teresa (Corn) Jett of Muncie and Randall (Sheila) Corn of Pendleton; grandchildren, Misty (Danny) South Nelson of Muncie, Dustin (fiancée: Amanda Andrews) Reagon of Muncie, Aaron (fiancée: Jess Gillum) Corn of Fortville, Kayleigh (Logan) Babb of Fishers, Audrey (Noah) Fawcett of Wauwatosa, WI; great-grandchildren, Danielle Nelson of Muncie, Kameron (Chloe) Reagon of Muncie, Noah Reagon of Carmel, Alaina Fawcett and Daniella Babb; several great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, Charlie was preceded in death by his sisters, Patricia Bonnell, Marilyn Reinke, Janice Fawbush and Barbara Robbins.
Services will be held at 2:00pm Saturday, April 11, 2026 at Ballard and Sons Funeral Home in Middletown. Burial will follow in Miller Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00am until the time of service on Saturday. You may express condolences or share memories of Charlie at www.ballardandsons.com.
