Evelyn Marie Poor

Evelyn Marie Poor 89, of Middletown, passed away on Monday, January 22, 2024 at Kindred Hospital Indianapolis North. She was born on October 12, 1934, in New Castle, IN, a daughter of the late Harold and Gayle Fadely. She was a member of the White Union Christian Church for 70+ years. She loved the Lord, her family, and all her friends.

After graduation from Sulphur Springs High School, Evelyn attended beauty school and worked in Muncie, IN. Evelyn and James grew up as neighbors, friends, and then high school sweet hearts. They married on December 18, 1953.

She liked selling Avon products and did so for 25 years; it gave her an opportunity to visit with neighbors. If she wasn’t selling Avon, she was enjoying working in the yard, or going on various trips with James, family and friends. But her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Evelyn is survived by her children; daughter, Debbie (Gary) Hutton; son, David (Debbie) Poor; grandchildren, Angela (Gary) Davidson, Kelly (Stoddard) Worman, Zachary Poor, Hannah (Ethan) Roberts; great grandchildren, William Davidson, Casey Davidson and Jake Wells; sisters-in-law, Geraldine Hay, Kathy (Jim) Beck and Linda Poor; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, James Landon Poor; brother, Harold Fadely Jr.; sister, Martha Kiger; brothers-in-law, Cecil Kiger, Ray Hay, Dale Poor; sister-in-law, Loyce Poor.

Services will be held at 2:00pm Monday, January 29, 2024 at Ballard and Sons Funeral Home in Middletown with Pastor Gordon Barrett officiating. Burial will follow at Miller Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:00pm until the time of service on Monday. Memorial contributions may be made to the White Union Christian Church, P.O. Box 99, Sulphur Springs, IN 47388, Middletown EMS, Box 1, Middletown, IN 47356 and Sulphur Springs Fire Department, 401 Main Street, Sulphur Springs, Indiana 47388. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
