Gigi Lynn (Cook) Sanders, 65, of Middletown, passed away on Friday, July 21, 2023 after a long battle with lung cancer. Gigi was born on September 7, 1957 to the late Bud Cook and Colleen Vaught in New Castle, Indiana.
She was a 1975 graduate of Shenandoah High School. On June 30, 1979, Gigi Married Tony Sanders and they went on to have 2 children, Jake Sanders and Kate (Chris) Choate, and 3 grandchildren, Isabelle Kinnett, Halle Sanders and Drayton Choate. She worked many years at Liebhardt Woolen Mills/Downlite pillow factory in Middletown, IN. She also worked several years at Meijer in Anderson, IN.
Gigi was creative and loved crafting and making things. She loved the outdoors, softball, camping and boating. (As long as snakes were not involved) She was a life long member of the YAYA women. Gigi was a fierce and loyal friend, and though she did not hold back her opinions she was always there to help. Stubborn until the very end, she lived every day of her life on her own terms.
She is survived by her husband, Tony; step-mother, Becky Blake; sister, Jodean Ayres; step-brother, Brad (Joyce) Vaught; son, Jake (Nikki Stephens) Sanders; daughter, Kate (Chris) Choate; grandchildren, Isabelle Kinnett, Halle Sanders and Drayton Choate; brothers-in-law, Larry (Sue Horan) Sanders and Jeff (Susan) Sanders; sisters-in-law, Amy Sanders and Susie (Jack) Rankin; several nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews and 1 great great nephew.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her step-father, Ralph Vaught; in-laws, Bob and Vera Sanders; step-brother, Gene Vaught and great nephew, Aiden Ayres.
Graveside services will be held at Millers Cemetery on Tuesday, July 25, 2023 at 1:00 pm with Pastor Charlie Alcorn officiating. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to be made to the American Diabetes Association and American Cancer Society. Arrangements have been entrusted to Ballard and Sons Funeral Home in Middletown, IN.
