Henry "Hank" Clinton Masters Jr.

June 23, 1938 — May 16, 2026

Yorktown

Henry (Hank) Clinton Masters Jr., 87, of Yorktown, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 16, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

Henry was born in Yorktown, Indiana on June 23, 1938 and is the son of Henry Masters Sr. and Evelyn (Marley) Masters. He was a proud graduate of the Yorktown High School Class of 1956. While in high school, he was a gifted athlete competing in basketball, track, and cross country; Henry held the school record for the one-mile run for many years.

On October 26, 1963, Henry married the love of his life, Shirley Pershing, with whom he shared 62 beautiful years of marriage.

Henry had a dedicated career, spanning over 50 years with Westinghouse/ABB from February 1963 until his retirement in July 1998. Following his retirement, he continued to share his expertise in their field support for nearly 20 years. Deeply invested in his community, Henry was a member of the Yorktown Lions Club, the Yorktown Nazarene Church, and the IBEW Union. He also served on the Mt. Pleasant Township Community School Building Corporation and as the Yorktown Alumni President in 1972.

An avid outdoorsman, Henry lived life to the fullest. Whether he was on the golf course, fishing, hunting, manicuring his lawn, snowmobiling, snow skiing, or water skiing he found true joy in nature. One of his greatest highlights after retirement was serving for several years as a volunteer resident lighthouse keeper at Big Sable Point Lighthouse in Ludington, Michigan.

Above all, Henry was a devoted son, loving husband, proud father, cherished grandfather, and loyal friend whose life was defined by kindness and unwavering dedication to his family. More than the activities themselves, he treasured the time spent teaching, coaching, encouraging, and creating memories with his children and grandchildren through every season of life. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered for his generous heart, adventurous spirit, and the love he gave so freely.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Shirley; his son, Randy (Jennifer) Masters; his daughter, Angie (Kevin) Dunlap; four grandchildren, Bryce (Jessica) Masters, Jesse (Cheyanne) Dunlap, Trevor Lyons, and Desiree Lyons; one great-grandchild, Asher Dunlap; and his siblings, Carol (Roger) Bell and Sandy Masters.

Henry was preceded in death by his parents, as well as his siblings, Sharon (Wayne) Studebaker, Iona (Benjamin) Garrett, and James Leslie Masters.

Friends and family may call from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 20th, 2026; or one hour prior to the funeral service which will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 21st, 2026 at Ballard and Sons Funeral Home & Crematory, Daleville. Burial will follow at Yorktown Cemetery.
