James Jay Stewart

James Jay Stewart, 20, of Middletown passed away in a car accident on Sunday June 4, 2023, in New Castle. He was born in Anderson on March 20, 2003 to Curt and Tammy (Long) Stewart.

A 2021 graduate of Shenandoah High School where James played football, basketball and was on the track team throwing shot put. James worked at Deaton’s Waterfront Services in Fortville, which he loved. He enjoyed the outdoors, going camping, kayaking and cooking. James was a simple down to earth guy that loved his family’s vacations together, spending time with his friends and his nephew.

James is survived by his parents, Curt and Tammy Stewart; siblings, Jessica (Justin) Stall, Jacob Stewart, Demonte Brooks and twin sister Jenna Stewart; grandparents, Georganna Haltom, Clarence long and Clara Long; nephew, Sterling Stall; uncle, Gary Stewart; aunts, Stacey (Dave) Skillman and Angie (Ben) Yentes.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, James Stewart, Edna Stewart and Sterling Haltom.

Visitation will be on Saturday June 10, 2023 from 1:30 pm until 6:00 pm at the Middletown Church of the Nazarene. Services will be at 12:30 pm with Pastor Dillon Ketcham officiating.
