Judith Kay Cheatham

November 20, 1940 — January 12, 2026

Daleville

After 67 years of wonderful marriage, Glenn Dale, 89, and Judith Kay (De Haven) Cheatham, 85 of Daleville passed on from this life one day apart. Glenn was born on September 29, 1936, in Okemah, OK, a son of the late Willie Lafette and Nora Arnold (Walker) Cheatham. Judy was born on November 20, 1940, in Albany, IN a daughter of the late Thomas Marcell “Bunk” and Marie (Binegar) DeHaven.

On August 17, 1958, Glenn and Judy began their love story together that lasted for 67 years, until it ended when Glenn passed away on Sunday, January 11, 2026, and Judy, January 12, 2026. The result of their love story was a beautiful wholesome family that included lots of fun and many great memories.

Many of these memories were made at their lake house in northern Indiana where Glenn and Judy loved to spend time with their girls and family friends; they all enjoyed boating, and water skiing as well as house boating on Lake Cumberland in Kentucky. Family was most important; Glenn and Judy were hardworking and dedicated parents and were active in the community. They loved traveling together whether it was to visit their daughters or special anniversary trips to destinations such as Hawaii, Australia and New Zealand. They also traveled to most every US state except Alaska.

On an individual basis, Glenn was known to be a quiet man, kind, considerate but always having a smile. He was a 1954 graduate of Daleville High School. He began working at the age of 12 at gas stations in the area and went on to retire from Robert G. Taylor Homes following 40 years of service, where he served as the framing crew foreman. Glenn built both custom homes that he and Judy enjoyed over the years. He enjoyed spending time with his family, mowing his grass to perfection, and woodworking. Glenn was also an avid golfer and member of the Elks Club in Muncie.

Judy never met a stranger; known to strike up a conversation with anyone she met. She loved telling stories about her beloved daughters and grandchildren. She was a 1958 graduate of DeSoto High School; her class having had only 25 students but she and five of her lady classmates still enjoyed lunch together once a month for years. Judy was a homemaker who was a great cook and baker, enjoyed entertaining in her home, growing roses, gardening and crafting, as long as she was able. She also worked outside the home where she was employed by Ameriana Savings in both Middletown and New Castle, holding positions from teller to loan servicing to training in her career there.

Glenn and Judy are survived by two daughters, Teresa (Dennis) Knoll of Bluffton, SC and Sheryl (Tim) Quill of Hendersonville, TN; grandchildren, James Karr of Plano, IL, Bryant Karr of Chicago, IL, Kelly (Nate) Pellegrino of Lafayette, CO, Katlyn Quill of Chicago, IL and Jaclyn Quill of Portage, WI; great grandchildren, Skylar Karr and Kyle Pellegrino; Glenn’s brother, Donald Eugene “Duck” Cheatham of Daleville; Judy’s sister, Joyce Shoemaker of Daleville and sister-in-law, Odessa DeHaven of Muncie.

In addition to both sets of parents, Glenn and Judy were preceded in death by Glenn’s brother, Willard Cheatham and sisters-in-law, Mary Lou and Sherian Sue Cheatham, Judy’s brother, Larry DeHaven and brother-in-law, James Shoemaker.
