Anderson

Myrneth Henry Richman, 89, of Anderson Indiana, passed away on Feb 13, 2026, leaving a legacy of service to God, his family, his community, and our nation.

Myrneth (Myrnie) was born October 29th, 1936, in Muncie Indiana. He spent his formative years in Daleville, Indiana attending Daleville High School where he played baseball and participated in many school activities and clubs. Following his high school graduation, he was accepted to Purdue University where he graduated in 1958 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Agriculture and Education. Myrneth continued his education at Ball State University, earning Master of Education while also receiving a Superintendent’s License.

Myrnie began his teaching career at Lewisville High School, then transferred to Highland High School in Anderson Indiana. He always spoke of his fond memories at Highland and reflected often on his students and his unwavering belief in each of them. He spoke of his hope that in a small way he encouraged each of them to lead a life of compassion, integrity and a lifelong love of learning. Myrnie eventually became the Assistant Principal of Highland. It was at Highland that he met Carol Ratzlaff, his wife of 60 years. After twenty-five memorable years at Highland High School, Myrnie embarked on a path to develop and implement the Adult Education Program at Anderson University. Following that success, his heart took him back to teaching where he ended his lifelong dedication to education, retiring from Anderson High School in 1995.

Myrneth proudly served his country in the Indiana Army National Guard and Army Reserve where he received an honorable discharge as a Specialist Five, 1st Battalion of the 151st Infantry in 1964.

He cherished being a member of the congregation at Park Place Church of God, a 32nd degree Mason affiliated with the Daleville Indiana Lodge, as well as his Lifetime membership in the Purdue University Alumni Association.

Myrnie enjoyed many activities including boating, camping, and weightlifting. He often recounted many fond memories of camping, water skiing with his children, and motorcycling with his family through the Great Smokey Mountains. Myrnie and Carol also spent 24 years as “snowbirds” in Panama City Beach making many lifelong friends.

However, most important to him was his family. All conversations with Myrnie quickly trended to an update, story, or recent accomplishment of his boys or grandchildren. His sage wisdom, steadfast commitment to helping others, and Godly example laid the foundation of a family that he was most proud of.

Myrneth is proceeded in death by his father and mother, Henry Richman and Gladys (Eppard) Richman, Sister Rita Marilyn (Richman) Bradbury and her husband Charles.

He is survived by his beautiful wife, Carol Ann (Ratzlaff) Richman, his sons; Marcus (Lorraine) Richman and Michael (Jennifer) Richman, Grandchildren; Eddie (Sara), Curtis (Sydney), Alysea, Mitchell, Jacob, Luke, and James, and Great Grandchildren; Sophia and Caleb.
