Patricia “Patty” Ann Flanagan, of Sulphur Springs, IN, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on October 20, 2025, joining her husband Gene, on what would have been their 78th wedding anniversary. She passed peacefully in the comfort of her home, with loved ones near in heart and body.
Patty was born on February 4, 1931, to the late Leland and Lola Clark, at Coleman Hospital in Indianapolis, IN. With cheekbones galore and jet-black hair, she stole the heart of the love of her life, Gene, as a cheerleader attending Avon High School. Together, they began a perfect love story, marrying on October 20, 1947. They went on to have three children, Pam, Jerry, and Edward to complete their family. Being the devoted wife and mother she was, she stayed home to raise her children before beginning her career as a prestigious beautician. She proudly served the ladies of Plainfield while employed at the First Lady Salon of Beauty.
Patty enjoyed her many friends in Bridge Club and her sisters at her sorority, Beta Sigma Phi. While living in California, she served as a Sunday School teacher as well as a wedding coordinator at their church. Patty always loved her time spent with her siblings and family fishing in Wisconsin. She was a proud member of the White Union Church, where she sang in the choir. As her family’s cherished matriarch, Patty spoiled them with a love like no other, her amazing cooking and baking, the truth of scripture from her Bible, and her sweet honest advice.
She leaves to cherish her memory and carry on her legacy her three adoring children, Pam (John) Surber of Forest Ranch, CA, Jerry (Marcia) Flanagan of Farmland, IN, and Edward Flanagan of Pompano Beach, FL; 5 grandchildren, Craig Surber, Amanda (Steve) Martignoni, Jenny (Brandon) Wilson, Laura (Shannon) Vice, and Amy Flanagan; 10 great grandchildren, and her faithful fur baby, Sophie; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. The family would like to thank Lori for her constant care and steadfast loyalty to mom over the past year.
Patty was preceded in death by her husband of 78 years, Gene Flanagan; parents, Leland and Lola Clark; mother and father-in-law, Jesse and Stella Flanagan; siblings, Gene Clark, Betty Price, Doris Gilbert, Mervin Clark, and Roger Clark; and daughter-in-law, Connie Flanagan.
