Paul Edwin Kendall, 95, passed away peacefully at his home in Middletown surrounded by his loving family on July 14, 2025, following a brief illness.
He was born May 20, 1930, in Summitville, IN to Theodore and Ercie (Dawson) Kendall. He attended school in Summitville and enlisted in the Army from 1951-1953. During the Korean Conflict, he proudly served his country as an MP. Paul worked at Delco Remy from 1950 until 1987 when he happily retired after 37 years. He was very proud of the fact that he was retired longer than he worked.
Paul married Ethel Mae Hunter on February 19,1955 and lived in the house where they raised their daughters for the remainder of his life. He had a lifelong love of boating, camping at Barbee Lake, and riding snowmobiles. In his earlier years, you could always find Paul in his garage tinkering on any small engine he could get his hands on. After his retirement, he enjoyed building and flying model airplanes with friends. He also enjoyed time spent with friends and family who all referred to him as “Pap”.
He is survived by his 3 daughters, Teena (Steve) Myers, Denise (Thom) Reddington and Penny (Brian) Lockhart; 9 grandchildren, Lindsey (Sam) Lowder, Mandy (Mark) Manship, Laura (Randy) Myers-Broadnax, Ashlee (Aaron) Drysdale, Stephanie (Aaron) Goodson, Seth (Katie) Reddington, Kayla (Peter) Woodward, and Shelby Lockhart; bonus granddaughter, Fernanda Gorostieta Lavelle; 3 sisters, Mary Helen Elsworth, Judy Kendall and Marcia Metcalf; sister-in-law, Ivy Hochstedler; 15 great grandchildren and 1 great-great granddaughter on the way; several nieces and nephews.
Paul was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years Ethel Mae; his parents, sister Lucille Hughes; brother-in-law Keith Elsworth; and granddaughter, Meghan Reddington.
His family would like to extend sincere gratitude to Lou Fites, Courtney Swenk, Nancy Frazee, Stacey Whited, and Liz Troxel for their help and support in the care of Paul.
