Robert "Bob" Haynes

Robert “Bob” Haynes, age 93, of Middletown, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 29, 2025, at Middletown Nursing and Rehabilitation. Born on January 28, 1932, in Harrison Township, Bob was the son of the late Leighton Lewis and Crystal Helena (Keesling) Haynes.

A proud graduate of Cadiz High School, Class of 1950, Bob went on to serve his country in the United States Army, where he served as a Military Policeman and achieved the rank of Corporal.

After his military service, Bob dedicated 32 years to General Motors before retiring. In addition to his career, he was a devoted farmer and found great joy in working the land. A man of deep faith, he was a longtime member of 6th Street Christian Church, where he sang in the choir — one of his many passions.

Bob enjoyed the simple pleasures in life: fishing and playing shuffleboard. He also enjoyed playing cards with the love of his life and wife for 67 years, Reba. They enjoyed playing games like Hand and Foot, Rook, and Euchre.

He is survived by his loving wife, Reba Ernestine (Sutton) Haynes of Middletown; his children, Gary Leon Haynes of Greensboro and Cristy “LeAnn” Chesher (Randy) of Middletown; his brother, Gerald Haynes of New Castle; two grandchildren, Shelby Haynes and Byron Haynes; step-grandchildren, Darci (Brinton) Gray; step-great grandchildren, Rylan Gray, and Bristol Gray; three great grandchildren, Waylon Haynes, Rylee Haynes, and Jaxon Hobbs; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his brother, Harold Leighton Haynes; and sister, Wilma Cory.

Services will be at 1:00 pm on Monday, June 2, 2025, at Ballard and Sons Funeral Home in Middletown. Burial will follow at Miller Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00am until the time of service.
