Settie Jean Hendricks

Settie Jean Hendricks, 106 years and 7 months old, was called home to heaven on Sunday, September 27, 2026. Settie was born on February 9, 1920, in Owensboro, KY to Henry and Mattie (Milne) Stein. In 1939, she moved to Anderson, IN, to live with family. It was there that she met Ernest "Dunnie" Hendricks, and the two were married on June 19, 1948.

Settie worked for Delco Remy for more than 40 years and was a member of the White Shrine for over 75 years. Until January 2026, when she was physically not able, she attended Redeemer Baptist Church in Anderson. She was saved as a young child at The Gospel Center Mission in Owensboro, a Mission that was started by her grandfather.

Settie Jean is survived by her daughter, Melanie Hendricks; son, David (Leanna) Hendricks; and four granddaughters, Anna Davis, Ivy (John) Gray, Briana (Joshua) Reichart, and Adriene Hendricks. She is also survived by six great grandchildren; eleven great- great grandchildren; a half-sister, Patricia Shaffer; special nephew, John (Linda) Sykes; and special niece, Deva Deane Drake.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, eight siblings, one great grandchild, and two great-great grandchildren.

The family would like to thank the staff at Middletown Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for their compassion and wonderful care of Settie since May of 2023. Also, thank you to Paradigm Hospice Care for their support and care.

Services will be at 1:00pm on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, at Ballard and Sons in Middletown, with Pastor Paul Storm officiating. Burial will follow at Maplewood Cemetery in Anderson.
