Shirley Ragan

Shirley A. Ragan, 62 , of New Castle passed away surrounded by her family on Friday, December 29th, 2023. She was born August 28th, 1961, in Delaware County to the late Charles and Doris Jean Fosnight.

Her passion was taking care of people, Shirley served as a CNA for many years. She was devoted to her patients. She was known to do the work of ten people to make sure it was done correctly. Shirley was never afraid to step in and speak her mind when she felt something was wrong. Shirley made sure she was an advocate for those she cared for. Fishing and spending time with her grandsons brought her much joy. Shirley loved playing euchre, rummy, and solitaire. She supported the Colts and Pacers and loved feeling like she was a part of the game. Shirley would get into every game by yelling at the tv in support for her team.

Shirley is survived by her husband William Ragan, 2 daughters Misty Tompkins (Shannon), Ashley Hardcastle, one son Bobby Ragan (Ashley); 4 grandchildren Draven, Austin, Keianna, and Shaunna; brother Kevin Fosnight, close friends; Danny and Marilyn Boatman and Darrell and Melinda Wilson, and several nieces and nephews.

Shirley is preceded in death by her parents, brother Chuck Fosnight and sister Tina Savage.

A visitation will be held on Thursday January 4th from 12 PM -2 PM at Ballard and Sons Funeral Home Middletown Chapel. Arrangements have been entrusted to Ballard and Sons Funeral Home.
