Terry Dale High, 65, of Middletown, passed away on September 9, 2026. He was born on February 3, 1961, in Anderson, IN, to Doris (Defreese) Bancroft and the late Lawrence Virgil High.
Terry lived his whole life in the Middletown area and he worked as a brick mason and in construction. He was a man who believed in hard work and in helping others, and he would do anything for anyone. He loved life and loved hard. If you were one of his people, you were his forever. He was a protector by nature, deeply devoted to his family, especially his children, and he always spoke very highly of his aunts, uncles, and the rest of his family.
He proudly served in the United States Army and carried great pride in his service to his country. Terry was also very supportive of all things concerning veterans.
Outside of work, Terry was happiest when he was on one of his many bikes. He had a collection of cars, all of which sat around in his yard. He enjoyed racing cars and especially loved racing with his son Jake. Terry also had a twisted and sarcastic sense of humor that those closest to him knew well and loved. Among his constant companions was his beloved dog Boomer, who went everywhere with him and held a special place in his heart.
Those left to cherish his memory include his children, Amy (Gary) Holmes, Melissa Cantrell, Christina Pierce, Jacob High, and Michelle High; his grandchildren, Tristan (Dakota) Anderson, Josie (Caleb) Anderson-Hartwell, Jennifer (Keegan) Baker, Dakota High, Iris High, and Ella Reeter; his great grandchildren, Felix Baker, Florence Baker, and Frazier Baker; his mother Doris Bancroft; his sisters, Mary, Laura Mae, and Vicki; his wife, Diane Zehrung; and his girlfriend, Kelly Putnam.
Terry was preceded in death by his father, Virgil High; brother, Billy High; and his best friend, Bobby Mundell.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, at 7:00pm, at Ballard and Sons Funeral Home in Middletown. Visitation will be from 5:00pm-7:00pm on Tuesday at the funeral home. Cremation will take place with Ballard and Son Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to DAV (Disabled American Veterans) on their website here.
