Marjorie Louise McCord, 88 of Pendleton passed away Wednesday, July 24, 2024, at Community Hospital in Anderson, Indiana. She was born on May 21,1936, to the late William Earl and Dessie Lee (Robbins) Smith.

Marge left an undeniable mark on the lives of all she met. She had little tolerance for anyone who was not kind to children or the elderly. She was caring, compassionate and was known as the family peacekeeper. She loved her family and was proud of her son, John and daughter, Lisa. She was known as Grammy by her two grandsons, John and Sean and Aunt Jude by her nieces and nephews. Marge enjoyed traveling through Europe and the Hawaiian Islands, gardening, making Christmas candy and was known to make shopping a sport. She retired at 78 after working for over 35 years as an Account Executive for several State Farm Agents in Madison and Henry Counties.

She is survived by her son, John (Teresa) Hanson; daughter, Lisa (Marcie) Hanson; grandsons, John Hanson and Sean Hanson; brother, Bill (Jackie) Smith; sister, Pam Markham; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her first husband, Gene Hanson; second husband, Richard McCord; sister, Aileen Greene; nephew, Tim Greene; niece, Megan Smith.

A graveside service will be held Thursday, August 1 at 11:00 am at Millers Cemetery in Middletown, Indiana. Arrangements have been entrusted to Ballard and Sons Funeral Home in Middletown.
